Granulation

The granulation process is to subject a meal to a combined effect of compression and extrusion.

Granulation as it is currently known is the result of an evolution that started with a rudimentary equipment that only molded the grain. Nowadays, there is equipment that makes a compression-extrusion process.

The main advantages are that it facilitates the handling of the product (higher density, better flow and less segregation) and it improves animal productivity (inactivation of anti-nutritional factors, protein denaturation improving digestibility, reduction of microbial load and contamination in general.).

The granulation process can be divided into three stages:

1.THERMAL CONDITIONING (in steam-conditioning coach)

2.COMPRESSION-EXTRUSION (in press pelletizing or granulating)

3.COOLING-HARDENING (in counte rcurrent cooler)
